Default Neil Young cover... for your Bashing pleasure!

Here's a rocked-up version of an old Neil tune, called "Harvest".

The drums are rather plain - no fills or anything - from EZDrummer. The rest (bass, guitars, vox) are me! I used a VST effect to get the back-up vocals... worked fairly well... sorta...

Let me have it...

Maybe it's just me but I don't like the effect on the vocals. With a really prominant delay effect like that it makes the vocals sound off from the music. I would try something a little more subtle (but effective) to make the vocals stand out. Everything else sounds good and well balanced. One can nitpick about the mix but it all comes down too preferences and not being a country fan makes me not the best judge of what sounds good for that particular style.

Mark - first, thanks for the comments!

I'd have to agree with you; the delay effect on the vocals is a bit heavy. I'm not really a "country" guy at all... but I do like Neil Young. The vocal effects are probably better suited for rock, my preferred genre...

Pretty slick. I wouldn't call it country. Maybe country rock. I like it. There is something odd about the intro. The guitars are louder than the rest of the song. Was it added on?

The intro was added on!

Damn, I hoped it wasn't that obvious!!!

Actually, I suspect the fact that its louder may be due to the compression... since its only guitars in the intro, they would be louder... Either way, that's something I can look at and possibly correct in the future.

Thanks for listening!
