Good Stuff Todd. You have a very nice "crooner" voice! For the equipment you had to work with it sounds like you did a bang up job. I'll try to listen again on my better speakers. Sounded real good on these little computer speakers.

As I mentioned earlier today, about loosing a Friend to cancer.
I crawled out from under a rock and attempted to sing again.
As a farewell gift to him, before his passing.
I can't take any credit for the song or the instruments. (I can't play a thing, might be able to work a cow bell)
I can only be blamed for all the vocals, and mixing of them.
This was done with borrowed equipment Apex 420, Presonus USB box and Audacity.
I made tons of mistakes, Recording with different mic levels, placement, holding with hand no stand, etc. etc.
Feel free to bash away, I'll take what ya got and apply it to my next one and new equipment.

I wouldn't change a thing. It reminds of the good old days when country music was actually country music. Loved it. And you definatley have good vocal abilities. Can't wait to hear more.

Thanks guys, I put over 50 hours into that I'm sure, learning Audacity.
I could host up the White Christmas I guess, with the new Equipment, but my voice was rough towards the end, and I only put two hours work into it.
I rushed through it trying to get it out before Christmas morning Christmas Eve after a 10 hour day at work. I ended up putting too much Reverb into it.
Hey Todd, it's worth a listen. Bring it on. Seems like a perfect choice for your voice. Great song.
OK, Stan I'll post it before I hit the rack.
Here it is Stan "White Christmas"

Vocal ride. At points the vocals get pretty 'loud' / 'it feels like there's a earwig in my ear' kinda thing. Remedy would be to automate an eq-notch to take down that one annoying frequency, when needed. Or automate the volume to get slightly quiter when needed.
Common sense says to use different mics on different passages...I.E. 'Bring in all the gear for the chorus' or 'now I gotta sound like I'm talking out of a boot' and you start talkin into a boot.
Great track. Don't know the original.
Thanks dudermn
I'm a Diesel Technician, and around air tools and other loud equipment 40+ hours a week.
Could I get you to be more specific on the Time mark your hearing things.
It's highly possible that I'm making noises I can't hear.
Lovely crooning - and you MUST keep on singing. The emotional content from this comes through loud and clear, in fact I found the backing track mildly annoying as it was so relentlessly chirpy while the song was so sad. Music is a wonderful way to help you survive - well more than that, to flourish - ha, but I'm a fine one to talk, having only just begun to reclaim my own.![]()
Thanks Emma
I agree the instruments are too lively for the subject matter.
That's probably why it didn't make it to #1 for Tim McGraw when he originally released it.
Sounds great--and I agree with Emma on the arrangement. It just seems a little too lighthearted to get the emotion through. You got a great voice though and it sounds well put together and fairly professional. That's something I just can't do. My stuff always sound amateur. Live and learn.
Great track!

Ah Dan, I don't think what I've heard from you sounds amateur?
Me on the other hand (Amateur) all I can do is sing, hoping in a year or so I can get my head around music enough to at least peck out some sounds, and write the music myself. Then I can give up on the canned backing tape stuff, and not be forced into their compilation of the tune. As this one, If I could I'd make the instruments play with a frown. Instead of a cheeky grin.
At the very least fine some players looking for a singer.
Thank you guys. I am humbled. Sorry, I really didn't mean to steer this thread off course.
