Default The Mower

My first attempt at writing at tune (music with lyrics). Ive done alot of covers and just instrumentals. Lyrics below

As I sit here on my mower
Im all alone with my thaughts
Never know which one to hold to
So many it drives me nuts

I shake my head to clear them all out
But I know I just cant win
I try to focus on my mowing
But those thaughts have crawled back in

Solitude of mowing the yard
Just me and the grass
Its like looking in to my soul
Thank God, just one more pass

I shake my head to clear them all out
But I know I just cant win
I try to focus on my mowing
But those thaughts have crawled back in

As I sit here on my mower
Im all alone with my thaughts
Never know which one to hold to
So many it drives me nuts

I like the tone of ALL OF the instruments. I liked the verb you used on the vocals a lot, it really works for this song. IMHO, guitars are too small sounding and the drumming is pretty sloppy (weakest link). The drums certainly aren't on time for more than a measure at a time, so whoever is playing, teel em to practice or record druns/cymbals seperate and quantize! (aha)

Singing reminds of Les Claypool mixed with the singer from Pennywise ahah.

Its me playin all the instruments and singing. I play guitar by choice and do the drums and sing out of nexessity. The guitars do need compressed a little and more low end or mids. I didnt have to long to work on it. I think maybe 4 hours from start to finish. Once I get more time I plan on tweaking it some more. I do need to get better on the drums, but Im 45 years old and out of shape. I get tired too easy and Im still learning. Anyway, thanks for the listen.

Interesting choice of topic for a song, I like it.

I'll second the sloppiness on the drums, but if considering you're doing everything yourself as a multi-instrumentalist, respect. I find the bass drum is a tad much, maybe turn it around to blend with the bass guitar a little more (turn down the volume a bit, and perhaps reduce some of the mids).

The guitar and vocals sound great, I'll second the smallness of the guitar, but I'm sure you'll fix that.

Awesome composition

Tks for the listen. Im heading out to my studio tonight. Gonna tweak it some more and start of my cover of Alice Coopers, Halo of Flies. Love that some and doing covers gives me quick and more experience in recording.

My realization of that exact statement helped my skill in recording grow ten times better. Covers go so much faster and you can really concentrate on the recording and mixing, instead of trying to "produce on the fly."
