hey downcast. this is hellotta better than your first post. you've done quite an improvement. i like your guitar tone now. and i like the song itself. your band reminds me of of silverchair. those were the good old days for me.hehe. okay as for bashing... i think the drums needs a lot of work. i see you've panned the instrument accordingly with the drummers perspective. but i think that there are some issues here. the hats i think should not exceed 50 when panning. maybe 30 or 40 would do. the crash and all the other cymbals would be ok if hard panned but not the hats coz its a major part of a song. the snare also for my taste should not be panned too hard. the kick should stay in the middle. the second issue here is the dryness of your track. i recommend you use more mics to be able to have versatility on applying reverb to each part of the drumkit. room mics would also help. some have one, others have two. it depends on you. just remember that the more room mics you put, the fuller your capture is. just be aware that room mics also act as a reverb effect for your whole drum track so just be careful when mixing them. the leads sound di. i hear that strange buzz on the right speaker which indicates that this is di. try micing it. or try tweaking the settings and lessen trebs a bit and add some reverb for leads. it would sound more pro'ish if you do that. well i think thats about it. keep recording bro!!!

hey thanks tons guys, soon as i get home tonight i'll take some of your suggestions and apply them, problem is, is i'm limited to like 5-6 drum mics, due to my interface so all i can mic on the drums is 2 OH's, 1 kick, 2 snare, and one more if i feel the need, however pretty soon i'm going to get some more mics and another interface and that should help out that problem. so i'll add some verb play with eq's and comps and i'll seeya back here later on

Cool track! The drums need work. The cymbals sound like a high pressure air release from a hose (pssssss).I take off the front kik drum head put a sure beta 52 half way in the center and throw a thick packing blanket over the whole drum to get a very tight fat bass drum sound.I liked that this track was dry.I could hear all the things going on.yes a little delay and verb would be nice but....The buzzy di guitar killed this tune at the end.I have a few stage amps Marshall,Mesa boogie,Krank, 60's Silvertones,Magnatone,Peavey etc...And I only use amps with 10" speakers for recording or if I need a huge loud wall of doom sound I will crank up one of those bigger amps and mic it with 2 mics. The 10" speakers deliver a more tighter focused sound without all the bass response from the amp.I would avoid Di guitars or if you use em mix it in with a miced up sound.I liked your tune and the sound of the dry mix.Work on the kik, snare and cymbals. And record a miced up guitar and add a little somthing to spread out those vocals and I think you will have a pretty nice improvement.
