They are WAAAAAAYYYYYYY too loud. it's like the music is at 3/10 and hits at 10/10.
So the beginning is an intro we used for a video when my band and I came back from deployment some years ago. I was attempting to make a sub hit (808) and would like you're guys input on it. I know some people say they can whip one up, but I found it quite difficult. So the main thing I would like critiqued is how the sub hit sounds, and comes across to you guys?
Thanks in Advance!!!![]()

What do u mean by 808? Ya it just sounds like a big Booom. Um...I'm no sub hit pro but i had my attempts at making pretty decent ones. What I like to do is,
1. Figure out the lowest frequency played by the bass guitar.
2. Whip out a frequency chart ( Ie: Frequencies of Musical Notes )
3. Find the said note and the frequency 1 octave below it, or any musical spacing of your choosing, it can get very low.
4. Pop up your favorite sine wave generator and generate a wave of block of that freq. ( for standard E you could make a 41.2hz rumble but hell you dont need to be THAT precise, could be 40hz, doubt anyone will see a difference.)
5. Treat it with compressor to give that oomph and make sure you fade it out under the music as soon as its done giving that kick
6. Repeat layering to your liking, could be another 1 @(E0) 20hz if u really want to make the place shake to bits
play around with it and have fun!
I used this rather simple method to make big drops in chugging metal breakdowns. I hate it when the booster is WAY TO OBVIOUS. If its of the proper frequency and it supports the bass it makes it awesome.
the 808 is the classic roland 808 drum kit that's used in pretty much every electronic music in the 80s lol. In this type of music, for booms like that, the 808 kick is used pretty often as compared to a sine wave, you can still hear it a bit without a sub.
AH! ty so much for that explanation, i feel like quite the nub now. hurrah...*goes away in shame*
HOLY CRAP !!!
What was that at 1 minute in ! Did a nuclear bomb go off a few hundred miles from where you guys were recording ?!
Bring the guitars up. In this genre guitars rule over bass. Hell bring the low end of those guitar up while you possibly mute the bass track.
Bass dominated track. Than sub-dominated by drums.
