Default Metal Zone Pleasures...This will have vocals

A guy sent me an email the other day saying he liked my music and that he was a vocalist. I asked him, "what kind of vocalist", and he said gutterals and midrange and the like. So we decided to make a little tune. Three days later I have this 2 min 22 sec song which will sound pretty brutal once the vocals have been laid down...should be by the end of this week.

Anyways, Metal Zone worked out well with this type of tune. Not the best sound ever but really works well for this type of music. Alesis on drums. Got sick of Hydrogen (sounds like a 1930's jazz set or something)...((was there jazz in the 30's)). haha.

I'll be sure to post a version with vox when I have it. Bash it hard and bash it well. I can see it now.

Brutal bro! Reminds me somewhat of Born of Osiris

Being that this is a really fresh recording, I'll wait on the vocals to be laid down before I start critiquing

And yes, there very much was jazz in the 30's

there's totally bass in this. You can really hear it at 0:46. When I was mixing I would cut the bass in and out to see if it made a difference. It adds a lot of bottom end to this tune.

Yeah, I can definately hear bass in this. Nice tune. I'm sorry to have to say I think the guitar tone is pretty awful for my tastes, too buzzy sounding without any real body - that's a metal zone for ya.

I just checked this band out. They're pretty big for the kind of music they do.

I really like the song itself. Nice, clean playing. What rig are you running. I think if you tweaked with your mid and or treble knob on the metal zone, and messed with mic placement. This tone could be usable without a doubt. I want chuck schuildner vocals for this one. I know it doesn't sound like death, but bitey harsh vocals would work.

Yea man just a metal zone on a randall 1x8. I did boost the mid a little more than I usually do. Which was 0. So I had it on about 3 or 4. One track I purposely made brighter with the mic in the center. The other track, more bass with the mic closer to the rim. Chuck Schuldiner kicked ass.

you need a lot of mids when you're recording recording guitar. less bass and trebs. the body of the tone can be given by the eq. dynamic mics doesnt really capture what you hear when you're in front of the amp so the best thing to do is to hear what your mic hears by listening through the monitors or headphones. anyway thats what i tend to do when im recording.
