Default (Metal) New track I've been messing with. Bash it, Bash it good.

Track was recorded just like all my others. Basically needed to get all these riffs I had down on paper and this is what I made. Arrangement isn't final as there are some "boring" parts that I dont like. But here's the rough version.

    Hey Fuzzy,

I love this sort of stuff. I am a HUGE metal fan... not so much speed metal though. Not of big fan of Slayer or Pantera.... Metal Church has some awesome songs and of course I like Metallica. I like SOME Dream Theater stuff but I consider myself mush more of a Rush fan when it comes to progressive. This sounds pretty progressive as well.

    Nice job, all around,

Thanks dude. Im a fan of Pantera but I despise Slayer. Pantera had grooves with their speed so It made it very listenable for me. I try to be progressive but keep groove and mainly melody that way I can hopefully attract a broader audience. Thanks for checking it out though.

Those blackouts cut through nicely, man. Are these Reason drums? Sounds like Reason. This gells very nicely this mix, but I think there's a distinct absence of bass, particularly in your 2:00 breakdown. It's often the case with tech metal, 'coz bass can remove a tiny bit of clarity, but you need it to help this really push through. Some more tone in the kicks would be good too, they're very typewriter-y.

Some bass to fill the lower spectrum would make this HUGE !
Maybe synth lines. The kinda stuff subwoofers were made for.

"Maybe synth lines?????" Please don't. At least try something else with the kick or rhythm guitar first. An extra rhythm guit with a little low-end grunt could be nice. The song seems to sit in the same place for too long sometimes. I only have 3" mons for now, def no subs. Def need to hear some vocals, too.

LOL ! I don't mean happy synth sounds. I mean dark sweeping bass sounds that would sit under the guitars and bass. It would create atmosphere and depth.

Drums are SD 2.0. Metal Foundry kicks and Slate presets in SD. Mapped out in Fruity Loops just because it's so easy. I'm working on the bass right now. For some reason with this song the bass isn't wanting to act right. Too much and it bleeds into the guitars, too little and...well you just heard it. Still got a lot of tweaking but what I posted was a rough version. Now to really start messing with it. Thanks for all the replies.

As long as it doesn't sound "Korn-y" that'd be fine...

I would love to do some synth stuff or even have strings or brass instruments but I'm not really set up for it nor do I have the resources.

sounds good, have u ever tried layering the bass with a sine wave and lo passing it

alot of the newer heavy stuff thats comming out does this and the actual bass track is high passed almost so far that u can only hear string noise and all the root note and body comes from the sine...

Hmmm. Explain this to me please. I haven't heard of trying this. Sounds interesting. If you have the time, lay it for me on how to do it and what it involves. Currently Im just running the Bass DI into PT and using Amplitube from there for everything else. EQing it to taste and slapping a compressor on it and that's it. Thanks dude

Great job there m8! Not exactly my taste but nevertheless u seem to have done very good job..especially with those guitars (i would try less ideas and then evolve them).
