Interesting noise you've got here. I listened to "What's Going On?".

Since you are obviously, not "playing by the rules" here, the conventional rules of engineering are out as well.

However, assuming you want some sort of objective, I think the low end is out of control in both the kick drum and the bass synth. That's the big one.

The snare drum sounds like you are using too much close mic and not enough overheads. (I call this a "fake" sound). Don't be afraid to get more overheads in there, it usually does wonders for a mix. So basically, I'm reallying hearing too much kick drum and too much snare drum. If you reduce the reliance on the close mics, I think the drusm will come together.

Another trick I like to do is send the entire drum bus to a reverb. You really need to work on this sound, you want to simulate the sound of a real room. I usually compress it pretty hard with a fast attack and slow release (the release really depends on the reverb sound desired). If you get it right, the resultant sound will not sound 'reverby' in a digital reverb "New Wave" kind of way, but sound more like drums do in a real room. It'll just sound like you've turned the "excitment knob" up on the drums a little bit. I generally consider the sound of loud close mics to be "boring".

Anyway, I'm interested to hear some more of your ruckus.

Brandon
