The mix is very nice. I'm not a big fan of the song though, but that doesn't matter. I'm confused though, are you in this band?

No no I am not, I record local bands by me as a source of income while I'm doing college stuff. This is the latest band to come in.

Ahhh, that makes sense. I should have been able to figure that out, but... lack of sleep... yeah. :P

Well in that case, wow, I'll reiterate that it sounds very professional man. They should be happy with the outcome Those drums sound good, what kind of drum mic setup do you use if you don't mind me asking?

Beta 52 for the kick, SM57 for the snare, Sennheiser E-604 for the rack/floor tom and a pair of rode NT5's for overheads. And thanks a lot!

    I really like this song!
    Great job!

Do you know how the guitars were tracked (amps, mics, guitars, etc)?
Because I really love the tone you achieved on this!

Hey thanks a lot! And of course I do, I recorded it! We used some weird Peavey guitar with a Mesa Single Rectifier/Orange 4x12, I miked it off center with a Rode NT5

Top stuff! Nothing to make fun of... Love the "smack" you're getting on the drums.

Ah thanks a lot! And I tracked this in Cubase SX3, just quantized the drums in PT.

This sounds awesome! The singer has a very nice pop voice, I like it a lot

Very good sounding mix, the drums have an awesome punch to them that really drives the song. The only thing I would change is that the guitars seem to be a little strong on that "harsh" sounding range of the spectrum...I dunno if that makes any sense. Too much mids and buzz for my taste I guess.

However, I find myself accusing tons of songs of having guitars that sound too buzzy, maybe its just a problem with my own ears :P

Sounds fine asides from that though, definitely something I would expect to hear on a pop rock station!

Ah thanks for the input! I tried for awhile to get rid of that buzzy-ness but they recorded with such cheap guitars I feel like that had a lot to do with it, I tried lending them my Les Paul but they wanted nothing to do with it! You can't win em all i guess.

It was some sort of Yamaha kit, not really too sure, he used my Sabian AAX hats, and a couple A Custom cymbals along with it.

Light years ahead of my band at 16. They have a great sound. The vocals seem a little thin to me. At some points they get lost in the music. But overall, wow i wish great things for the band too.

Great song, and very well produced!

I don't agree with the comment that the guitars sound "harsh". I'm a guitar player myself and thought the guitar sounded great - I think they sit well in the mix. Maybe my standards are low, but I also thought the vocals were nice too!

I just want to congratulate you again.
This is so one of those Billboard hits that just get stuck!

I would totally record in your studio, because this sounds fantastic.
