Default Live Recording.

Hey guys, thank you for all the comments on the Miami cover band recordings. Here's a little thing I did in somebody's living room, everything is live except for the vocals which were recorded in a bedroom. The guitar and bass amps were isolated from the drums by putting them behind sofas on both sides of the room. Again, all comments are welcomed.
Gabe.

I like it. I enjoyed it. I think you did a good job capturing the energy and the performance, which is good. Good sounds, especially drums and guitars. Bass is a bit mid-rangey for my taste but overall is solid.

On the other side, I donīt like the reverb choice for the vocals. I suppose vocals were done with the live approach so there are a few pitch issues, but once again, it seems like you did capture the live essence.

The reverb that I used was the Classik Reverb from IK Multimedia. I used the preset "wide vocals" from the plate unit. And yes, there are pitch issues since it was only a one take for the vocals just to capture the live feel and often imperfections of live performances. Check out the mistake by the bass player at the end of the song. Anyway, thanks for your comment. Gabe.

I would try a less "wide" preset. That is what I didn't like, probably because you recorded the band in a living room with that ambience, but the vocals have a totally different ambience.

Everything sounds really far back. It's like the band is 30 feet back further than I would have preferred. If that was on purpose, cool. I would probably go for more like 15 feet back.

To be honest I'm not even sure how you managed to pull this off unless you used distant room mics is a big, but REALLY dead room.
