I think it's one of the better hooks you've posted on here. I listen to almost all of your posts; you definitley have an identifiable style... but I'm having a hard time offering any useable comments. One of these days I'll come up with adequate descriptors that might be of some use... By the way... is the album free... or is that the name of the album?

The album is in the can. I was wondering what people thought. Other times I wanted "bashings" but what sense would a "bashing " be now? the album is completed. I mentioned that in my introductory line. It just needs to be mastered (this week) and released. It cannot be changed. This "bash" thing can be really goofy- it's become a trigger word for and resulting in people saying shit just to be a part of something. As a powerplay as well. So that, i'm an idiot if I don't accept the "BASH" ??I don't think so. But I've gotten some great opinions that I used, then put up another thread.then another thread, so I am listening. But I'm not obliged to listen to, or react to and opinion that I think is bullshit. Ok that's all.

So more of "B", then. Post up your stuff for self-promotion, and hopefully people will blow smoke and tell you how wonderful it is and what a genius you are. If anyone has a cross word to say about it, become hostile and brittle. Quote:

Would it be smarter to use this resource to improve your recordings by posting rough mixes before it's all over with? Many others have, including myself, and it works great. Yes, I know you have a thin skin and can't handle being told your music is lacking in any respect. Still, though, you'd probably find the pain worth it. You, your music and your critics would all benefit.

Well, since this IS a "bash this recording forum" the only thing that really stands out to me as not being up to par with a product that is going to be released is the vocal performance..There are areas where the intonations are off..mostly flat. just little things here and there..But no worries cuz I'm a real picky s.o.b. : ) also it would be nice if there was maybe more emotion and or technique in the vocal performance. The over all production sounds great! Nice hook at 2:52 and out.. congrats on your release.. |

I posted over 400 songs in this forum, with only two or three in which I wasn't "looking for a bash" that was these past few. There were people who I commented on their material and they mine. I posted Litttle thing like the Rain for them to check out. But since your both interested in "bashing" EVERY SINGLE SONG (maybe I haden't explained about the 400 or so- actually i think it was 400 mb so thats not as many songs, but it's a lot. I've taken SO MUCH criticism in my life....From my mentor Ken Topolsky,( Phil Ramones assistant at the time), and Berklee College of Music,To the many studio situations I recorded in in NY, I don't care if you call it namedropping my point is No I wasn't even looking for rave reviews by posting Little Thing Like tHe Rain- it was just a last minute check to see how it stood up with some very picky people. These are the ones who criticised my work before and I felt comfortable. Sorry if I was looking for something good- that's usually what your looking for when you can't change something.... Now, the thing about the vocals is I don't feel they are flat....all the vocals were run through the Melodyn or whatever program we were using (i didn't engineer the recording session where we did all the vocals for the album. ) But i know we used a small amount on everything. So I'd have to know exactly where the vocals were flat. Also, I have perfect pitch, but you may be right, sometimes something slips away from me.Also I played DOWN the emotion of the song because it wasn't working played UP. So I admire your call there but yeah it sounded better very straight. I don't believe in American Idling anything. The other thing about the vocals is that they are very hard to sing. I don't know if you noticed all the leaps and oddities about singing it in perfect pitch. Still, there's no excuse for flat vocals so I'd like to know where it occurs- for what reason I don't know since I can't touch it- as I said its in the mastering process soon. well- thanks.

I didn't notice anything about it as I didn't listen to it. Seems kinda pointless to listen closely and critically to a piece if no help is wanted. That's why I asked first.

more technique in the vocal...hmmmm like crazy vibratos, and throat singing, and melodyn up the yin yang doing cher shit. hmmm I don't know if I would have tried to use MORE technique. I thought I was maxing out on that one but I realize I'm not doing, or having done to my vox all the "2009 things" Sorry for the sourness in this case I freaking HATE 2009 vocal things, and in 2010 I wont have to worry, they'll have another new technique- or Mine will suddenly be in vogue. The Flat kind.
