| 3 vocal Side-chained Bass Guitar and Kick Drum All other tracks left alone, just volume & Pan adjust 2 versions, one unmastered and one mastered using the Mastering Template in Cubase 5. Basically they have 3 inserts rdy to go for ya... Multiband Comp - preset Rockmaster Stereo Imager - preset Light Spreading Maximizer - preset Shred Master Used default presets they had and I am going from there letting my ears learn making adjustments, since I really dont know what I am doing yet.. ![]() This song has been in my head awhile, finally got to recording it and seeing how it came out. Alrdy want to change some stuff, sorry it is a little sloppy. Still concentrating on that dang heavy sound trying to tweak it in just right for heavy stuff. Bash away please, what does everyone think of the mastering tools? Any setting Ideas? P.S. I am trying to upload a pic of all the tools open in cubase so setting ideas can be relayed. Saving a screenshot (using ctrl+print screen) then pasting in wordpad saving as RTD (rich text doc). What can I use to save the screenshot so I can get it loaded up here. I do not have Microsoft Office Suite or whatever, which I could use to save as doc or bmp....correct? Has to be other programs to save in compatible format for posting here, I just am not sure what to use. Thnx

Enjoyed this. I listened to it through some decent headphones (the only way I can do things in this neighbourhood!) so the stereo effect is more pronounced. Generally, it's well mixed: heavy when it needs to be; the vocals sit nicely in the mix when they come in (interesting effect on the vocal--what is it?). The guitars never seem overbearing, which might have been a risk with 8 guitar tracks, while the drums are just about right, I think. Not my kind of music, sure, but it's good to get a listen to a detailed, well-mixed recording, whatever the genre. You mentioned that some things might need fixing--interested to hear any revised mix you post here. BTW I only listened to the mastered version.

Love it Michael. I think the guitars sound great, really 'there' in the mix - although (for me) a little loud compared to the kick and snare. Maybe a couple of minor timing issues in the first few bars? I am only a newbie at this too though so don't take my word for gospel! I really like the vocal recording - and especially the performance and latent energy. So often we concentrate on 'how' it sounds rather than what the song is and what its saying....and what YOU want it to sound like.... Keep it up - welcome to this wonderful resource and group of friends. Tony.

Really like the vocal on this - great job! Not keen on the sound of the mastered mix - It seems to have hyped all the "edgy" sounds in the mix & made it very fatiguing to listen to. As for the first mix, it seems to be quite muddy in the bottom end - try high pass filtering the individual elements in the mix to stop the mud from creeping in later due to compression. Otherwise, top start with a good tune!
