How did you record this? It sounds like you put a mic in a room with everything and the vocals got buried... It needs a ton of work. I wouldn't know where to start other than turn the vocals up to start. The guitars are loud, the drums are quiet, the vocals are quiet. did you want the guys at the beginning to be singing out of tune?

The beginning was all the bands idea. I am planning to take it out.

*Future critiques can disregard the intro.

I will up the vocals, but the song wasn't designed to be pop-like. Its supposed to sound a little far off.

Dave, I think you would understand the choice of a distant sound if you heard the rest of the EP, but I appreciate your comments.

It sounds like you have all the stuff tracked ok.I would take off all the reverb and effects and start with a dry drum mix.Pan your overheads and toms and work on the raw drum tones first. Then turn off all the effects on the guitars and bring them into the mix and pan them also to your liking.Next bring up the bass into the mix.Now you should have the drums ,Guitars and the bass into the mix. Then fix all of the eq stuff kik&bass relation.Finaly bring up the vocals with no effects on them and work them in.then you will have to re eq stuff a little to get it all sounding good together. when everthing is in Get that mix as dry as a desert bone then add a little verb to the snare and vocals to start.Did you mix this with headphones? Also avoid clipping(the red zone)Digital distortion is the worst.Hope this helps you get closer to a finished mix.You are far from the mastering stage at this point.I send out all my mixes to a professional mastering engineer for the final master.Mastering is a art in itself. If you want to hear a nice dry mix check out my work on here "Remix Electric fireflies" my studio Sterling Sound Studios

If thats what you were trying to do, you did a great job of making a far off mix. I guess you want the guitar to cover up the vocals and the drums. I guess I don't understand what you are trying to do or why. It sounds really live. RAW is a good word. Again I can't tell you anything if you want something unorthidox. Sounds like it is pretty much the way you want it?

This sounds like it was tracked quite well.

I will tell you despite the distant sound, the guitar in the left ear with the over-the-top reverb needs to be high passed to hell, its muddying up the whole ear.

The vocalist is good. Bring up her vocals a bit. They get annihilated during the louder parts of the song.

Add at least a little more compression on the drums. The room mic (if you had one) will really help a lot here. If you duplicate the room mic and compress it to hell and lie it under the mix you'll get some more punch. I suggest starting with the drums alone and bringing up things one by one till you can get something more cohesive.

It definitely needs some work. You know what would help me, and I'm sure some other members get what your going for is if you could compare the production styles of some other recording artists to what you are trying to accomplish. Maybe then we could help you get a little closer.

Thanks greg. Very helpful. I think I will definately do those things.

Garage, thanks too. I don't normally listen to this sort of music, so can you maybe recommend a well recorded album that is simular to this?

Too much reverb, that hihat in the middle is ugly.
Maybe you want it like this, but for me it sounds that the "verby" sound creates a beatiful sonic landscape.
This is all non-tracked? itīs amazing.
Very emotional song.
