When you have an effect on a track, wet/dry usually describes how much of the effect is applied/blended into the original track (wet = all effected track, dry = all original track).

I think Brandon is referring specifically to reverb, and suggesting that less of the reverb effect be applied to the tracks in question.

Great track! The drums did seem to feature a bit. They were excellent, though. Maybe bed 'em in a bit. Sometimes it's not so good to mix the best bit the highest. I think sometimes we feel that we can hide the bits we don't like in our mixes. But all that does is make them lumpy. Maybe consider the "virtual" placement of your instruments on a stage and use pan a bit more. Everything seemed centered. Could be my headphones..

I think he means remove some reverb and/or delay. I agree with the suggestion to make the tracks more dry. The reverb gives it a bit of an 80s new age type of sound, and the question is whether that is what you want. I would make it more dry, in order to make it something more organic and jazzy (but hey dry vs wet mixes, these things go in and out of style don't they? In the 60s reverb city, the 70s almost everything was dry as a bone and in the 80s it was effects land again. Now dry is back in... )

I started notching a narrow band in the bass guitar to make room for the kick drum (usually right around 80-100K, which was a suggestion Brandon had made to someone else in a previous post, and it really has worked well for me to create definition in the low end.

Around 3:40, I would probably bring down the guitar a little to bring out the lead piano and try to make some of the dissonent notes work better.

I especially would dry everything up around 5:30 with all the stuccato notes.

The playing is technically proficient. Fun stuff.

Get a towel! ha ha

No, as said above, I'm referring to using less reverb.

Obviously this is a typo. It should just be 80-100Hz. (I sometimes go lower than that, sometimes not).

The big thing here is no matter how much space you go with in the mix that each element sounds relatively consistent. I found it distracting to have drums so close. I'm not necessarily making an argument for or against reverb. (You would not believe how much reverb and delay I put on a mix last night).

i basically just put a mic on all the drums plus 2 overheads, and recorded him by himself. he didnt have any scratch, just a metronome. and it was one take. pretty sick. then, i just went direct in for the bass. then, i just used a 57 on my guitar amp. (yes, im those guitars that sound thin). then i used a korg triton for the keys. i agree that the keys could sound more like a real piano, and that is my biggest complaint (other than the fact that him and i are hitting a note at separate times throughout the main lick).

the keys man (dave) had written the song, and all we did was go through it earlier in the day. we dont read music. im sure dave does.
