Default If a song doesn't have ALL parts yet... It = unfinished.

Then put it in the UNFINISHED IDEAS section.

Yep, that's right. There is a section here for you guys and girls to post a song when it only has drums and guitar. Maybe it's still missing the vocals that you're going to lay down tomorrow. Whatever it's missing, that means it is UNFINISHED.

If you aren't sure, then it should probably go in the unfinished section.

Thanks.

Right! The purpose of Bash This Recording is to submit mixes that you've maxed out to the best of your abilities. The idea is to push your mixing skills beyond what they previously were by gaining feedback from your fellow members.

It can only be achieved when you've done your best. When all elements of a song aren't in tact, it's really impossible to truly rate that mix and the song belongs in the Unfinished Ideas section.

But what if i made a complete part of a short "track" on say two minutes, who was planned to be like 7 minutes, but I'm never going to finish it ever because I've lost my inspiration, and I just want opinions with the mixing and instrumentation?

The problem is that i probably would get much more of the right attention for my work in the electronic forum. So far i had to PM people do get something.

Point to Ponder: When is a song really finished?

But I agree. Although I try to submit "finished" songs the BTR, I always seem to be going back to it to "play around with it' until it's actually pressed onto a CD. UGH!

Yeah Tony, I hear you.

I once heard an interview with Rick Ocasek from The Cars. Basically, he played around with their songs until someone would have to pull his butt out of the studio and tell him it was finished.

I do the same thing a lot of times...Probably to the detriment of the song, in my case.

Demonique, the reason Brandon put up the Unfinished Ideas section was so people could get help with arrangements, lyrics, partial ideas that need fleshing out, etc... It was also provided so that those who wish to spend their time solely upon helping folks with improving their mix on a finished work, could do so without wading through songs that weren't at that stage yet.

You can place your song(s) where you like; I may or may not move it depending upon how finished it seems and how much notice it's garnering. In otherwords, if the song isn't quite finished and is in one of the other sections, I might leave it if it's getting a lot of helpful suggestions. I might go ahead and move it, but if I do, I do my best to keep the thread intact so that it still keeps getting you help.

It all depends upon the Moon, the Stars, how much I've been able to torment Capt. Kirk and the Doctor, whether I've had any Romulan ale and how much I've had to smoke. All very logical...

I see... the clue is that when I'm making electronic music i usually always complete my mixing before finishing the track structurewise, and I very rarely want help on other things than the mixing. That's why i want to post in the electronic section.
If you check out my "Sonic gangbang" in the unfinished section you can see how I'm making songs. You can also hear how finished the mix is, and see how little attention it got.
Cheers

I don't know but 2 seconds before this moment you can hear the words "fuck it!" come out of my mouth.
