This is really cool...from :10 to :20, it almost sounds like the Miami Vice theme song.

This is what a song Disturbed would write for a Vice City video game would sound like. Its very commercial...which is either a very good or a very bad thing, depending on your perspective.

The panning is very good, and keeps it interesting. A key change would be nice to make it more dramatic at the end. You could modulate at 3:20, and even modulate back as early as 3:37.

yiha, great song but the guitars are a little bit to high and don't have enough deeper frequencies!!!

would be nice to hear the songs with some fat guitars and good screaming and maybe singing vocals too

The drums need a little work on the kick and toms. I would boost the lows dramatically on the kick, everything below about 180hz. On the toms, I'd boost slightly (just a little, the toms don't need as much as the snare) everything 250hz and under. The cymbals and snare are good.

The guitars sound good (especially for podXT), but they're definately missing the lows. I would boost everything 250 and under a few db. Doing this may help compensate for the brightness, and so you may not have to cut there. I noticed that the LEFT channel guitar has more problems than the right one. The right channel one sounds decent as it is, but maybe try a little more lows. You may have to cut the upper mids and highs on the left channel to make it sound good.

Unlike someone who posted earlier, I definately hear the bass guitar. I can't hear it well enough though to tell what really needs to be done to get it in the mix right. It may need more lows, it may just need to be louder. If you find it's competing with the guitars to be heard, then cut a little from the upper mids and highs from around 800-1000hz and up. For this genre of music, I don't think you want to hear the higher frequencies in the bass. They don't really combine well with the metal guitars... but that's mostly my opinion.

Anyways I'm definately not an expert but I think those things will help this mix. Try it and see if it works for you! If not hey.. i'm not a professional and at least you didn't pay me

On another note though, good job on the songwriting, it's a good song and Iwould listen to it again. Keep it up, I would like to hear more.

Hey. Thanx for your inputs. Gradgt, I'll try your suggestions out. But it will have to wait, 'cause I'm sick now (mixing with 38,5 degrees is impossible, at least for me)....

More clips cumming soon

Here's me knitpicking but isn't DFH Superior just the big boy version of EZ Drummer "DrumKit From Hell"? Isn't that what DFH stands for? Also, when is recording with pod of any type not considered recording "direct". Unless you mic an amp, you are recording direct, even if you are feeding the speaker out of a Marshall head into a mixer - still direct. So, I do want my prize, you see. I'm not even close to right very often and you're trying to spoil it for me.

Ok ok.... With all due to respect, lets talk about DFH Superior for a little :

Quote:
The idea behind SUPERIOR is to make a programmable environment as close to a real studiosession as possible. All leakage, that are a big part of the soundin a drum recording bleeds naturally through all mics.

SUPERIOR lets you choose wether or not you want bleeding in each mic, and if you want less bleeding, say for example you need to lower the volume of the hihat bleeding through the snare microphone, or lower the snare in the overhead microphone. No problem, you can adjust the level of any instruments bleeding through any microphone.

We promise an entirely new world of playing styles, programming and mixing capabilities. We will actually fly those drummers into your computer whenever you could wish for them and that´s for a lot less than the price of an airline ticket.

We always design our products with what we need as musicproducers in mind. Here´s where you think:
Does the world need another drum/percussion library? Our answer would be no, and yes.

No as in: We don´t need another loopbased drum/percussion record that sounds amazingly much like the general midi in your 80:s synthesizer. Superior does not come with a bunch of ready made midigrooves in somebody elses style. Superior lets you choose how you want your drums to be played. Should you need midi to build a track from buliding blocks Superior is of course all compatible with the 8000+ midifiles available in Toontrack® Musics high end sound, compact resource, low price multi layer drumsampler dfh EZdrummer®, or with any third party midi groove library.
The DFHS isn't big brother of EZ DFH, because:

1st --> there's no pre-made MIDI loops library included.
2nd --> It lets you more control over the leakage between mics, which EZ DFH doesn't
3rd --> In EZ DFH there's only one drumkit present: the Sonor set of Tomas Haake (Meshuggah), of course you have more selection of snare drums and cymbals. The DFHS contains the Sonor set, Ludwig, Premier, Fibes and DW with wide range of snares and cymbals (much more than in EZ DFH)
4th --> Superior samples aren't pre-processed like EZ DFH (which, if you don't tweak 'em good, can be quickly spoted in mixes...). DFHS is a good proof, how well you can mix the drums. I own it for about 2 yrs now and I gotta say that I've been scared of using it from the begining. But then, when you get used to it, it's simply the best tool. Can't wait for the Superior 2.0 at the end of this month.

Ok, now about gtrs... For me direct means straight into the comp/interface/whatever... Then direct means also straight from amp's Loop Out (at least I think it's Loop Out :P) with dummy load (like Hotplate or something similar) into audio interface/comp/pre-amp...
Having gtr plugged into PODxt and similar guitar processors isn't direct. But no offense, I respect your input. Everyone has his own right to tell his opinion, right?

About the prize... You can get the MP3's for free.... :P Just kiddin', but on the other hand, you guys here will get my solo project MP3's avaibile as a free download, when I'll finnish it, OK? Do we have a deal?

BR, SkyMan

P.s.: Brian, thanx for your kind wishes. I'm trying, but it looks like like I've got some kind of flu... But that doesn't mean, that I'm taking a rest. Hell no, I'm currently watching video tutorial "Steinberg Audio Mixing and Mastering with WaveLab", then I have some more vids to watch... Everything for good mix, aye?

Take care, guys, talk to you back later.
