Default how to give saparation in my mix

hai friends
this is my first post to this forum
i m having a home studio with some serious recordings.
i m frm india.we have a mixed culture in music making..means use indian music styles with pop.ragge, rap, latino, arabic styles and samples+drum music loops.
so every session, atlest 40 to 150 individual tracks i have to record in Cubase sx(my recording software)
i always facing a big problem(bcz,i m an amature,i know..!!)that the who mix become a juicy feeling...no saparation in vocal with keybrd or drums or guitar....
some times the bass end coming very anoying...
trying remixing....but not geting a real satisfaction...yet..
so i need an experts advice...
how i can make a feeling of good saparation in my mix....
regards

Brenny,

There are no rules with audio. So if you post a general question, you will get a general answer. Get used to it. I'm going to need a lot of more information to help you. First of all, are you saying that you have about 100 instruments in your composition?

A buddy of mine did an expensive record in New York City who was an amazing engineer. He said that recording is "crowd control". When you give everything it's space, it'll sound great. When you don't, your screwed.

Orchestras use a large variety of instruments and 90% of the seperation is done with the scoring. When a piece is written for an orchestra each and every instrument has to be put in a certain place (musically) to fill a certain portion of the sound. If there are too many things in one frequency range, none of them will cut through and you'll end up with a mess.

I'd say that best way to get seperation is to arrange your music beforehand in a way that allows it to cut through.

There are some engineering tricks too. Do you want to hear those?

Brandon

Can you post a clip? We don't know what the problem is until we hear it.
