Default Friday Night- rock - please bash this mix

Hi all, this is a tune i recorded for a friend of mine recently. I am really looking for some help with this mix. I know the playing and voice is a tiny bit rusty in a couple of spots but thats not why I am posting.

Any comments or advice are greatly appreciated.

I think, there is a lack in the lower mids, there is no punch and it is overcompressed entirely, maybe its compressed to death in the single tracks. the drums dont go "bang", they do a tiny "swish" or similar. to much is going on in the presence, I think, that guitars need more balls and less treble. so does the bass. the vocals in my opinion you can leave as they are, nice fitting to what I think the rest should sound.

I like the song, its a little bit rough and punky, nice tune.

+1. Nothing else to add. Might look at the attack on the compressor - set it a little longer so that the initial transient slips through and you get some more "bang" before the level comes back down again.

Like the song & the garagey style...I think your vocals are stepping all over the rest of the mix. Try & get rid of anything below about 100hz on the vocal track & that will take some of the "weight" out of it without really losing anything but unwanted mud. In fact its good practice to get rid of any frequencies that will be inaudible in the final mix, because if you leave them in they will adversly effect how the overall compression reacts since compressors usually compress the loudest elements of the mix the most, even if you can't hear them consciously...I hope this makes sense!

maybe its a good idea, to leave all the mastering compression out and compress every single track individually in the mix? I do not usa any master-compression, because this leads always - more or less - to unwanted interaction between the single signals. and you dont have to mix anything, what in the mastering is turned into something completly different.
