Here's one of the first songs I recorded (around January '08). Everything was played on an acoustic, then plugins and effects were added for various parts to sound like different instruments (bass guitar, rhythm/lead guitars). Go ahead and rate and bash as needed.

rockerdude,
I gotcha. I can turn up the vocals. How can I avoid this phase related hollo sound for future recordings? Also, I notice that when I adjust the volume of a track on the mixer, it seems to only change the "mix" of the relative volumes of my tracks, but I can't increase the overall volume of my songs. Is there a way to change the overall song output volume, or is this determined only by the initial recording volume? (I know I have lots of questions, and many more . . .). Thanks. |

Overall volume is the master faders not the individual track fader.Phase cancelation happens somtimes when you use two mics in close proximity of each other thus canceling out one another giving you a hollow thin distant sound. Most consoles have a phase switch to flip the phase or they might be on your preamps. If you only used one mic on that track no worrys but ya might wanna try a different mic placement or another mic/preamp combo or double up those tracks .Getting a good sounding acoustic track is a tricky thing like micing real drums and getting a great sounding drum mix.I have heard allot of awesome sounding acoustic tracks on this site you just have to ask for some tips or advice. We are all musical brothers in this quest for the best so keep it real and hit the R button.Sterling Sound Studios Shameless self promotion sorry....
