Great job dude! The only thing I can say is bring up the bass a little bit and maybe be a little more conservative with the drum panning. And the crash and tamborine seem a little high in the mix. Sounds really good.

I think it sounds pretty good. What I do when I am listening to something I did is find the part of the song with the most going on and listen to just that part and work on it alone. after I think I have found what I need to do, then I apply the same thing to the whole song, then listen to the whole song. Just a suggestion so the ears don't get tired.

Sounds really good. One thing I might add is an second guitar track mimicking some of the other guitars phrasing slightly panned to the left to make up for the space that is left after the flute is gone. But that might just be my preference.

Hey Sevrin - thanks for your post. I was thinking about laying down an acoustic guitar. I'm just a bit concerned that there is already a lot going on and I don't want it turn to mush.

Metal Dave - I've had a 2 week break from all things music so hopefully my ears have recovered now but I'll try what you said about saving my ears next time they are about to explode!

Hi everyone - I've finally found the time to make some changes to my track. Not sure whether to repost here or start an new thread but here it is anyway.

I've:

boosted the bass slightly
reduced the crash
reduced the tambourine
boosted the rotary effect on the toms in the 2nd verse and outro
cut the excessive panning on the drums

I've not changed the drum sound because I couldn't find an alternative that sounded right to me. I could keep going forever but a new song awaits!

Let me know if these changes have made any difference.

Thanks guys.

Jus

I like it. It sounds old school but, thats not a bad thing. It sounds slightly muddy but that may not be a bad thing for this song either. After listening to it I feel as if I just woke up. I am at a loss for words as I can't seem to really hear anything I would call wrong with it. It has a unique yet old school sound. It seems to lack something... I just can't put my finger on it. I may have to come back to this. I can see why your ears were getting tired... It is a long song...

Hi Dave - thanks for your post. When I've just woken up I usually feel like shit so I hope that's not what you meant

I'm wondeing if the muddiness is anything to do with the "mastering" I've done. I say mastering but what I mean is putting the tune through T-Racks and twidling various knobs until it sounds better! I don't know what I'm doing technically which is a stumbling block for me at the moment.

It is a long track and thanks for staying with it! I could knock most of the outro out I suppose but that's for another day.

Thanks again - Jus
