Default First Mixing Sessions Ever!

Hello all...

I have been building my little recording rig for a while now, but I accidentally got a client! So, I've been recording a few tunes for a singer-songwriter recently... did lots of tracking, and now the first moments of mixdown are happening. Usually in my sessions there are far fewer tracks that we've amassed for these tunes, so there's a lot to fit in there it seems... anyway, i'd love to hear what you all have to say. The tune is not mine, but please comment on that as well...

Thanks all!

Man, it sounds pretty good to me for a first ever mixing session It has nice space in the mix which I always seem to struggle with myself. The one thing that I noticed and this is just my preference is that i would pan that guitars wider and free up the center more for the vocals, bass and drums. But other than that sounds pretty good.

Overall pretty good, but i hear a distortion coming with the kick, kick is heavy in the mix. Sounds like things are weighted to the left side, might wanna pan a guitar or something right to even out the sound. Good job though!

Wow. Great job. Sounds like a real "record" to me. I would prefer the lead vocal to stand out a bit more, but it's not really buried either.
Hope I can get that good on my stuff. Excellent artist btw.

Wow, thanks for the tips guys, and for the kind words... yeah, he's a great singer, and he writes some interestingly unique songs... i'll have to play you guys some of the other ones as they approach readiness. I'm going to need some opinions on those too, we're doing four as it stands now.

Anyway, yeah, things do seem left-weighted... by the time the git solo comes in and it's on the left too, anyway, thanks... and i think i'm so geeked about my new D112 that i'm riding the kick drum in general these days... it's hard to not be the drummer on the session whilst being the engineer.... one thing that I've really been thinking about is how annoying i must have been on so many mix sessions as the drummer!

thanks all, keep it coming.
