This sounds pretty raw...Everything is a bit muddy, so first order of business would be to shelve everything below 40hrz (at least). The snare especially & the kick need more punch & presence. Maybe some gating would do the trick. There seems to be too much repetition on that - is it a china cymbal? - for my taste... I would use it more as a special effect... but then again, maybe that's the sound you're after.

You might want to try some acoustic treatment with the room. The room is not giving you a flat or true responce. It really needs some deadening and some bass traps. The pang sounds too loud. Shelving or eqing is something you should do after you get the room sounding better. the drums tuned and the mic placement better. There is no attack on the kick. The snare is sounding ok but could sound less muddy. The toms are deadened a little too much. I like them deadened a bit but I think you went too far. It also sounds like you have a concrete floor... Maybe put some more carpet down? Unless it is a wall behind the drums? in a basement? If you have a concrete wall next to or behind you, hang a curtain over the whole thing for now until you can afford to do some real acoustic treatment of this room. Good start keep working at it.

here is the latest mix complete with vocals, although the vocals arnt finished, they are going to be retracked and doubled, plus harmonies, guitars arnt done either, my guitar player did the drums, i went ahead and did the guitars so when he comes back over we'll redo them with him and do more vocals

bash away, critique and slaughter
