That's some mighty scary guitar playing and drumming going on here!

Hoo yeah! My energy level has jumped a couple of levels after hearing this great track. Very nice.

You need to get your demos to Mike Varney. This stuff reminds me of the Shrapnel Records era of metal virtuosity that inspired my guitar playing so much.

I dig the synthesizer patches and the breakdown before the mindblowing guitar solo.

The mix isn't perfect, but the general idea comes through.

I'd like to hear the low midrange a bit better defined. Perhaps a bit more attack on the kick drums. Try cutting the cloudy 300-800Hz region on the kick and turn it up a couple of db to poke through the mix and give the kickdrum(s) some detail. This low-mid region is an area of conflict between the kickdrum and the rhythm guitars. The kick drum in this song should hit you in the solar plexus, but it doesn't do so -- yet.

If there's a bass guitar on this track, I can't hear it. The overheads, snare, and hihats come through clearly, but the instruments and timbres that lie below the 1kHz range tend to get cloudy and ill defined.

The performance is so damn strong that it surpasses the shortcomings with the mix. If you can fix up the clarity of the low mids, the world is yours for the taking. Good job!

Mike Varney is the founder of the American record label Shrapnel Records. They specialize in hard rock/metal guitar players. Yngwie Malmsteen, Paul Gilbert, and Marty Friedman (as well as many others) got their careers started on Shrapnel.

You can find a link to their website HERE.

You can find a link to their MySpace page HERE. The MySpace page also has an email address so you can send them a link to invite them to listen to your music.

Good luck!
