Default Eleanor

probably not like the Beatles ever intended it- this was intended as a quick and dirty concept... I just got a bit carried away

I've been told it's a bit dark... one person thought it was sacrilege

Sort of Joe Cocker meets George Martin. The song is intrinsically dark in its lyrics, so this treatment is OK with me. One important part of music is interpretation, yours is just as valid as anyone elses. However, there's a bit too much reverb for me...sound like I'm listening through a tunnel. And the vocal harmony is a little to loud. Otherwise, quite interesting.

I love it! I wouldn't change a thing... If you're going to do a cover, make it DIFFERENT - mission accomplished! Love the ethereal, swelling vox in the background. Very nice. BTW, have you heard the Zoot's (old Aussie Band containing one Rick Springfield) version of Eleanor Rigby? Nothing like yours, but great stuff, nonetheless.

thanks both for the listen!

this was a conceptual thing and I'm playing/singing all parts... and as you may have noticed there's no drums, just the click with a Drumagog replacement... this mainly because I'm not a drummer... though I own a kit... it's never pretty when I get behind it

The backing vocals was sung as 2 parts, then one was duped and slightly delayed, the other part duped and sent through a pitch shifter to raise it- then all 4 tracks were sent to an aux bus with a Leslie plug-in

I'm hoping to retrack this with some actual living bandmates somewhere down the road, but will saty pretty close to this arrangement- I did play with one band that performed a big sound (9 piece ) version of this severaltimes... generally got good response, but a few who thought it too dark... to which I thought, "It is dark, get over it... go listen to Barney!"

I checked out the Zoot version... yep, we approached this from different directions

I don't respond much on here anymore cause I'm reading, listening and learning.
However, I think you hit gold here! Not sure if I would rerecord this or not. The feel is great. I, like everyone else has heard this song done almost to death but this is gold I tell ya!
Near the end the timing is a touch off and at first I tought fix it but after listening to it again, DON"T! I can hear this in a movie that Quinton T would make. IMO the BV's are sitting right, maybe move them back on occasions for varitey. Very creative. How does it translate to a car stereo?
Nice work!

RicD

Thanks for the listen and comments-

must be me playing off time as the "beat" much as I'd like to blame it on the click track LOL

ya know I've never listened to this on a car stereo

hmmm.... mechanical licensing....
