Ok I've tried something different and I'd like everyone to compare, maybe we can or can't learn something from this. I've been experimenting with mic placement to get natural reverb vs fake reverbs more specifically on the guitars. So here goes "hardest part" was recorded close mic'd on the guitars and no room mic on the drums (I didn't have enough channels with the bass player playing along) however I did re-amp the drums and mic'd them again in the room. There On "another day" I had a room mic on the drums and used it quite a bit. The guitars are recorded quite differently. - there is a close mic on guitar 1 and guitar 2, but also a far mic which is pointed at the wall the amp is facing and panned to the opposite about 60% Now it's kinda comparing apples and oranges here, but take a listen and tell me what you think of both techniques. |

I definitely like the drums on Another Day better - the snare has a lovely woody "knock" to it - mind you, both of them sound great... Mikro, you give us all something to aspire to!
