Talking Cover fade to black intro..

not my best, but i'll work on brushing up the lead part. I could sure use some suggestions as to how to get a better tone quality as i am currently using a PODxt Live on the floor for recording, with cakewalk sonar 6, USB ASIO in.... thanks guys...

the clean tone sounds great. for the electric guitar tone (solo only), i think its kinda sounds thin.. maybe eq it a bit and add some on the lower mids. if i was recording this, id definitely use an impulse to thicken the sound up. did you record this di?

yeah, it's USB from the interface to computer. I'm not sure what the deal is with the impulses, i've used them, but I don't want the amp simulation just the cabinet impulse correct?

its the same thing. if you used a marshall plexi impulse, that would simulate how it would sound if you're really using marshall amp+cab. theres no additional distortion or anything, just the sound of the amp + cab when its in clean tone. so the setting would be your guitar setup + effects or pedals > pc > load impulse, and its ready. what kind of impulses do you have??

Your drums need way more reverb.

Impulses sound much better than PodXT live, impulses generally just model speaker cabinets, so set your PodXT to "no cabinet" and then record and put the impulse on the recorded file, it will sound much better.... depending on your impulse .

To the best of my knowlege the PODxt Live uses impulses to model these cabinets, they're just shitty impulses. do you guys know of any that are specifically good? I am using the voxengo plug-in as an audio FX in sonar for the impulses. is this the way i should do it?

That's true about the pod using impulses. There's much better ones available, check at Guitar Amp Modeling; Index page and go to the impulses section.

there are lots of plugins. a good one is a voxengo boogex.. as for me i use kefir. they're both impulse loaders. you can download impulses from guitarampmodeling.com. just click the link of gradgt.
