Default Chaz: Bless Them All - Mix 7

"Bless Them All"
First Of All
suspend all belief that we are
Doomed and conquered
They'll send you home
In a little boat to brave the highest waters
Instead turn

To the old man who is a clown on the sidewalk
To the scoliosis kid who walks so tall
`To your lover who would never feed you sadness
To the robbed who come up with nothing at all
And Bless Them All

My sister worked as a hospice nurse
For 15 years
She knew what to say
And comfort all the families with their loved ones dying
In her name

Here's to the music man showing his changes
Here's to the changed by war who come back home
Here's to the vet who speaks for beautiful animals
Here's to the alcoholic who comes back home

Here's to the teen who's drowning in the quicksand
Here's to the star facing the hardest stage
Here's to the world who doesn't know what's ahead
We bite the bullet in the shadow of fear
Here's to the politics that go much further
Breaking the rule to serve the common man
Here's to the bravest ones who fought for freedom
Fought without a war

Bless Them All
Bless Them All

To start out
suspend all belief that we are doomed and conquered
suspend all belief that we are doomed and conquered
suspend all belief that we are doomed and conquered
suspend all belief that we can't make a stand

Are you Phil Collins in disguise??

I like the song. The mix is good. Drums could be spead out more and wetter reverb wise...mix could use some too.

My only bash is the vocals are a little dry and deserves a Phil Collins type treatment (plate reverb with delay and some reversing).

Overall this mix is good. But, the effects and tones sound a bit dated, but that may be what you are going for. I noticed a few pitch issues with the vocal - are you opposed to using a pitch corrector like Melodyne?

I'm not opposed to using pitch correction but I'm on a standalone recorder (the D3200) so I don't know how to do that, and I couldn't afford it anyway (my wife would not give me the money.) I'll have to take a listen and fix the off pitch places. the song is really hard to sing!! as far as being out of date, that comment is out of date (nothing new) I think I just need like two real live instruments and things would sound newer.. Thank you man for the review though....

Nice song. I was about to comment on the original post when I saw this one. Much better here. It shows that you spent some more time on it.

I agree a little water across the board would be worth trying out. I would add a little separation as well.

I can see that you don't like the dated comment comments. I get that too, but hey, I do have a world entry timestamp. C'est la vie.

I think part of it is the single sound source you have to work with. You have a lot of ideas and apparently they all (except your voice) must pass through the Motiff. You may have to bribe your wife so you can broaden your pallet.
