Can't Decide if This Sucks or What

I've listened to this thing so many times I've lost all objectivity. I'm inclined to hate it at this point (it sounds like Pat Boone trying to do contemporary from, say, circa 1990), but thought I'd throw it out there for the hell of it.

It's unfinished. Needs some kind of vocal thing to tie it all together at the bridge and through to the end, but I haven't figured it out yet -- and I'm not sure I want to.

The link does work...you just have to wait a little while. From a mix point of view it sounds quite good - I really like the harmony vox in the chorus. Very pop sounding song .It's a little too pristine for my tastes (but maybe that's what you're going for). My only criticism of the mix would be that the top end sounds a little harsh & present. I've personally found that using a tape simulation plugin accross the mix can 'dirty it up' in a nice way. From an arrangement point of view, I would suggest bringing some guitars dirty/clean guitars in under the chorus to give it a lift & provide some variation. Keep going with it!

I like the mix myself. I really like the way the vocals were done from a engineering as well as a singers point of view.

( Wish I could sing like that at times, but noooo, I have to holler like the singer from Molly Hatchet )

Might be something a bit harsh up in the 8k to 11k region maybe? I'd have to agree with fHumble's assessment.

I'd have to listen again a few more times to see what else needs a tweak and that tells me you are probably on the right track.

Overall it's well done, I think.

Thanks guys. I always have trouble with the high end, thanks to damaged ears. I seem to be losing my ability to hear it, so I tend to overcompensate.

And, yes, the song is very poppy. A little too much so for my taste, but I wrote it as I recorded it, and it just happened to turn out that way -- much to my chagrin. Maybe I'm just a pop guy.

Anyway, I'll try to lace some guitars in through the chorus and add some backing vocals and see what I get. It's all pretty much hit or miss.
