Default brilog / The Incredible Hulk

This is the same recording but now in a new thread of its own. I have tried to get rid of the static in Audacity.

I use cubase to record in and I used audacity to get rid of background noise, the reasons being that I am not sure how to get rid of background noise in cubase. As you mention, it might be a bad mic cable. I don't know whether there is a way of knowing for sure.

you shouldn't have to get rid of that noise cause it shouldn't be there to begin with.
there's something wrong that should be fixed before not taken out after. It wasn't there on that last short take you did on the niagra piece. When you moved the mic to the soundboard to get rid of the clicking. that one sounded clean. anyways keep trying and i hope you get it figured out. Cheers B

I rang the salesman of my TASCAM Interface and he explained about keeping the levels right up at the mic, and turn the mic left input control on the Interface down and this seems to have fixed it all. He said to keep it simple. I will put another piece on soon.

Is it ideal not to have to do any editing on a sound file?

Im pretty new at this so for what its worth my opinion-
Generally speaking.. yes Especially the type of editing your doing to remove noise. No matter what kind of plugin you use to remove noise, you are going to affect energy (sound) that belonged to the instrument. So whether its an intelligent filter or per sample editing, its very much not the ideal way to go if you can avoid it. All the sound files get "edited" when the mix is rendered.. so theres really no avoiding some reprocessing audio, and much of it you want, such as printing the effects/eq/compression on the render. That is obviously necessary processing.. but the internal sound engines are very good at that these days. The destructive stuff (removing clicks, splicing edits with crossfades etc) should be kept to a minimum I think when it would just have been easier to spend the time tracking it without the problems.

I kept waiting for the Hulk to come out and break the hell out of the piano.

Hello cakewalkgg

I didn't understand the middle part of your message re the mix. Do you mean that my mp3 files that I upload to this site get some editing done to them even when I don't touch them? Where does this happen?
