Default Bash this drum mix

This is a drum mix I just did. Let me know what you think. I will add guitars and bass later. Maybe even some vocals?

This thing has been HIGHLY processed. The drums are certainly not natural sounding, but only you and the song can decide on that one.

It's clear that the cymbals have had aggressive boosts in the top end. I personally think that you've over done it, but again I hesitate to take an aggressive stance until I've heard the entire song and know what you are attempting to do. Generally speaking, I'm learning to embrace darker sounding cymbals a bit more lately. (I made a major goof up and let bright cymbals get out of control on an experimental mix I had done).

The drums have been played in such a way that this sounds like MIDI programming. This isn't a real human being, is it?

The kick, snare, and toms all remind of the LM-7 that comes in Cubase. It kind of has a synthesis based drum machine sound. This is made more obvious with the toms. In the old days I had somehow turned real drums into sounding very much like a synth based kit, so I know it's possible.

After listening to this with 2 different sets of speakers, I realize I have a pretty bad drum sound here. I am going to re mix this but I am also going to load the tracks on here for all to give it a try. Yes this is programmed by me using fruity loops 4.0 but I seperated each drum and still have the tracks Raw. Brandon let me know if you want to use it or want to try something like this for the contest...

Spent about 15 minutes on it

Loaded tracks in CubaseSX 3.x
adjusted panning
adjusted EQ on kick (left dry)
send snare to a little reverb
Send everthing else to just a touch of reverb to simulate overhead bleedthrough

Let me know what you think

If I would spend more time I'd use the kick to trigger something in DFH.
I just don't like the sound of the kick the way it is now.

In the first loop the kick needs quantizing or maybe you wanted it like that?
Anyway, sounds better than the first post. : )

I like the Necro mans mix! I guess I am doing to much? I need to learn to leave things alone. Also I am always trying to do this stuff after a hard days work or when I should be getting something else done. Anyways Awesome job Nec!

This is basically what you have to start with no effects and just a little mixing to get this mix.
