haha I share Gofishduo's opinion as well, nice track, musically I think it sounds great. The vocals are the only thing I noticed anything wrong with, and I don't think it is something you can fix. They just felt a bit flat (not out of key flat) at times, lacking some emotion. Maybe try to not make them as up front in the more subdued parts by focusing on other instruments a little more.

hey guys thanks for the replies, yeah as far as the vocals go. there are parts where the vocals sound like they are mumbling sorta, i think we will be redoing the vocal tracks. but as far as production goes, im really still trying to get practice with mixing. how is it? is there anything that sticks out that i should fix? does it reek of amateur home recording obviousness? would you be content if you paid for a cd that sounded like this? lol im just trying to see how well im doing at it. i did a remix and fixed a copule noisey parts here and there and tried to make everything fit in better. here is the new version.

I think the mix is very nice, nothing jumping out at me as far as issues go. Nice feeling of space which works well with this tempo. The toms seems a bit low in the mix compared to everything else. Good choice of kick sound though, you can hear and feel it but not overpowering. I would have approached this sonically pretty similar to what you have there. Those Toms sound really nice at the end, turn them up in the mix make em bigger. I would say good job. There is some hiss I noticed on the quiet parts, you could edit that out, probably the guitar tracks but that is really nit picking.

firstly,
i`m liking this recording, the elements are mixed very well!
i am actually loving this track, it starts of in the intro letting u think its going along the pearl jam route then takes a dark twist and becomes sort of primus meets NIN
i highly rate that drummer! and the bassist!
some reall really nice drums and bass.
the metallica tone on the guitar needs to go for me, but thats personla taste,
personally, and i know this is gonna sound harsh! and i appolagise but thats what this thread is about...
i think you`ve done an excellent job on this, but i believe the bassist and drummer should maybe think auditioning some more singers and guitarists?
that sounds shitty i know, and who the fuck am i to suggest who should be or should not be in a band.
but the only thing letting this mix down is the performance from the singer and guitarist. but more the singer.
if its gonna be a local band with loyal following, cool.
if they want it to be a demo record in the hope of making the big time, then carrying people is never good.
although the singer might just have been holding back or just written the song? i dont know
however, i`m going off topic here so i`l shut up! lol
all the best,
really lving them sounds!
:-)
i listened again the guitarist isnt that bad actually, but the singer still not do it for me...
maybe try a tube effect on the vocals, give it a bit of a gritty edge, that may dynamically make it more acceptable and fit the song better.
guitarwise its too kirk hammet for me but thats personal taste
i`m ff work with tootah abcess so i`m grumpy as fuck at moment though so woudn`t take anything i say to seriously ,
later dude
rock on...

well thanks! yeah the drummer and bassist have been playing together for over 20 years lol, and there is a big story behind the signer but i know exactly what you mean.

Right from the intro I was caught up in this.. sounds an impressive mix to me (heh heh... but I have definitely still got newbie ears)
Some lovely w - i - d - e sounds. Version 2 has the vocal sounding a bit clearer but still feeling like the weak link. Am guessing you've played around heaps with effects on it, but can't help but want to explore some distortion/delay stuff to try to give a little more definition/presence to match up to the rest of the mix..
And as for LazyE - you are normally such an upbeat dude.... them fangs must be giving you hell... hope you are recovering![]()
