i can't really control the drums now because they were recorded onto one track. could I turn up lower frequencies on the eq to make the kick stand out more? Ill defiatly turn down the reverb and turn up the vocals. I dont mind how loud the cymbals are in the mix. i think its fine. also there is no guitar solo so im not sure what your talking about. thanks A False Apology |

sorry i relieze the guitar solo part you are talking about. I Did alot of things you said and some other stuff. It sounds a lot better. Unfortunelty my software expired so I cant mix it down to an mp3 right now. so the bass drums up, solos up, reverbs down, and vocals are up but i think they might be a little to high. So any other suggestions about this. Anything would be appreciated. Thanks A False Apology

The guitars REALLY hurt @ about 4Khz. Crank it up LOUD and you'd what I'm talking about. Pulling them down 1-2dB may drastically improve the tone of them. Is there a bass in this song? If there is I'm not hearing any of it. The kick is audible, but woofy and undefined. For this type of music, it needs to have lot of smack. There is nothing you can do now, I gues. The snare is dull. Normally, I'd suggest that you use specific compression methods and maybe a little EQ to brighten it up a little bit and reduce it's boxiness. On the vocals, I'd compression the shit out of them. They get loud and jump out of the mix and then the next work they may fall into the mix. Aggressive compression is very typical in rock / metal type of stuff. I'd take a compressor, set the attack and release to be as fast as possible. Set the ratio to 3:1 and then adjust the threshold until you are getting between 6-12dB of reduction on the loudest parts. Then adjust the volume accordingly. I'd expect the vocals to sound 32,532 times better. This will make it much easier to add the right kind of reverb on the vocal as well. Quote:
