Default 5150 / Karma K58

This tone used a 5150 through a custom 1x12 cabinet with a Celestion G12H30. I used a Karma K58 tube condenser through a Manley TNT preamp and smacked it pretty good with a Distressor.

I would have liked to hear the mic a little closer to the dustcap and a tiny bit less bass. Did you boost the amp, Brandon? It doesn't sound like it.

No, I went straight in on this one. I had my Boss yellow pedal (SD-something) right there and ended up going without it on this clip.

I like the SD-1. I have a Keeley modded one I've been using as a boost recently over my Maxon OD-820 pro.

Some of these Boss pedals really come to life with mods. I remember when the Analog Man stuff started making it's way into the studio and it was amazing the difference. I don't keep up with all the latest advances in pedals, but I know they've progressed immensely since then.

There needs to be a yearly "State of the Union" address for guitar pedals or something!

I'm definitely playing! I'll max out my entries, for sure, if time allows. This is always fun! I've got a few tricks up my sleeve. I just wanted to see if I would regret using the Karma K58. I don't.

Well done Brandon, thank God another real amp clip. It sounds like you did some compression/limiting on the drum track? Guitar tracks sound powerful, but a bit muddy at times.
