I highly recommend the simulanalog JCM900. It is a mono plug-in. (there is also a fender sim and boss stomboxes sim included BTW). IMHO it is the best high gain Marshall sim payware and freeware included. The trick is how to get the mono track generated to have the desired ambience. You can use extra reverb plugin/stereo delay plugins etc. I also recommend you look into the free Poulin amp sims (google it) and "le cab" with cabinet impulses. Regards Don |

Hi Don, After hearing your demo, I did download it and had a play last night. It sounds good but I think I've got something configured wrongly in sonar because I can't hear the effect when I play only when I play back. Also the left hand side is clean and the right side is the amp sound. Are you able to use this plugin and hear the effect as you record? BTW I should mention that I compared it to the JCM 800 sound on Guitar Rig 3 - and let's just say GR3 sounds a bit weak. Last edited by tiberius; 03-12-2010 at 01:33 PM. |

Hi Tiberius - you have to know that the effect is mono - so load it into a mono track and then you will have the right sound. This is analagous to the mono track you would end up with if you slapped an SM57 against a real amp and recorded it. I would suggest that after you have recorded the track then export as a stereo track and apply your stereo based effects such as reverb and delay. Alternatively I think you could send to a stereo submix bus in Sonar if that is possible in that DAW. Also in Cubase for instance I would click on a little speaker icon on the track to hear the effect as I play. I am not sure how that wuold work in Sonar. Also you could try the very cheaply priced Reaper DAW to see if you can get it running in that, The demo is functionally not limited, Last edited by curt1lp; 03-12-2010 at 01:42 PM. |

Hey curt, I have earlier versions of this plug where it wouldn't work in stereo of course. The latest stereo version doesn't work at all for me, yet the updated mono one works perfectly and also works in stereo on my end with no issues. Were you able to make the stereo version work at all? I can't figure out why it doesn't send sound at all. I've tried everything....different drivers, mono feed, stereo feed, nothing works for me. The new mono version....works without a problem and like I said, can be used in mono or stereo regardless of what it says.
