Help with, Roland SPD-S & Cubase LE

Hi.

I was wondering if someone could help me out..

I've been a musician for a long time, Bout 20 years. I have recently gotten a copy of Cubase LE and have taken an interest in creating my own music at home.

I purchased a Roland SPD-S Sampling pad a few days ago, I also have about 100 sound samples (.wav) files, that I have stored on my Computer Which I cannot transfer over to my Sampling Pad.

I purchased a M-Audio UNO MIDI to USB connector so that I can transfer the files over to the sampling PAD, Instead of the Flash card. (It was much cheaper, Because I went WAY over budget with the Sampling Pad)

There is no documentation that I have been able to find, explaining how to transfer the files with the MIDI to USB connector... Im Stuck really..

Heres what is working...

Cubase works no problem, I can even load the .wav file to it and play them on there. Real simple.

The Sampling Pad is Plugged in and is also working. (Using only the MIDI-USB connector). Cubase recognizes the sampling pad as well, and when I hit the triggers I see that its registering in cubase, But Im not getting any sound transfer to my PC... (No lines are muted) Im only using the Default Sounds that came with the Pad until I get my own put on it...

Do I need to plug in a "Line out" from the sampling pad to the "Line in" on my sound card? This doesnt seem proper to me because Im thinking that the sound should still go through the MIDI connections? yes? no?

So, thats just the beginning of my problems...

Now that I Have the .wav file sitting there in Cubase... How Do I transfer the sample to the SPD-S Machine?

Im so stumped right now, All this money spent And I cant even use it for what I'd like.. And the Roland Website... Thats a useless area too.

(I know theres lots of questions in my Post) I hope someone can help me to figure this out..

I'll post my PC specs Below this. (Im %100 sure that its not a PC related issue)

laptop magazine just had an article indicating there is a new interface being used now that runs at 3G

aimed at laptops but any pc *could* use it

faster than firewire and usb2 already and here now
slower than usb3 whenever that arrives with its 5G speed

who will be first to buy the chipset and make an audio interface that is really fast with no latency feasible too ??

advice on hooking up analogue mic pre through a/d

Hello,

I have got a jlm baby animal analogue 2 channel mic pre and I have to run it through my behringer ada8000 converters to my Rme soundcard. I am guessing the best way to hook this up is balanced xlr out of the outputs of the jlm pre into the line in on the front of the ada8000 (so it may bypass the behringer mic pre's).

Would I be best to go balanced xlr out into balanced trs line in or to unbalanced ts line in on the ada8000 for best conversion and sound quality?
I will mainly be using this pre for guitars.

Thanks

Using fireface 800 in conjunction with WMPlayer

Kind of a newb question but i havent found a solution yet so ill throw it out there as im pretty sure the answer is a simple one.

When i was using my presonus firepod as my card i could use Windows Media Player in conjuction with it and it worked pretty well.

Since i am using a fireface 800 as my card now i cant open WMP while nuendo is open.

Furthermore if i delete any of the recordings in my audio mixdown section of nuendo WMP will not play the recording because it says the path has changed or whatever. I would've assumed that adding a particular song to a WMP playlist would entitle me to play that song whenever i wanted. Not the case though.

Can anybody shed any light? Thanks

Setting monitors to play back CDs

Hey Folks,

*newbie alert*

I've recently purchased my copy of "Killer Home Recording" (*excellent!*). The beginning stuff talks about setting up your monitors and practicing referencing them with CDs I'm familiar with. I'm having trouble playing music from CDs through my monitors. Playing back stuff I've recorded in Cubasis is ok as long as I turn my computer speakers off (competing noise).

Here's what I have:

Computer is Pentium 4 3.00 GHz, 1.00GB RAM, Windows Home XP, Realtek AC97 Soundcard, Cubasis to record in.

Input device is an M-Audio Duo USB port.

Monitors are a pair of KRK Rockit 8's.

I've got the monitors plugged into the back of the M-Audio. M-Audio is USB'd to my computer.

I've tried going to "Control Panel", "Sounds and Audio Devices", hit the "Audio" tab, under Sound Playback pulled down the menu that has the Realtek as the device, and looked for the M Audio Duo to set as the audio speakers. The only other choice in the pull down menu is "Modem #0 Line Playback" which doesn't seem to do much if I highlight it.

Any suggestions as to how I can figure this out?
