Eternal Flame Cover

I joined this site recently and just read through a couple of replies to peoples recordings they wanted bashed, and I've learnt alot of concepts that I've yet to put into practice.

I told a friend of mine I needed something random to record to practice the arts of recording, mixing and mastering and he had this idea.

It's a kind of pop-punk version of "Eternal Flame" by The Bangles, with a bit of screaming, I think.

I'm recording in my bedroom with my computer, I only have a tiny 19 watt amp which I mic'd with a Shure PG58 for the guitar, and I used the same mic to record the vocals. I used EZDrummer for the drums, and EVM Bassline V1.2 for the bass. (I don't like the synth bass sound, but I have no way of getting a real bass, or bass amp, or DI box, so I don't have much choice.)

So far I've just recorded the intro and the first section of the song. The vocals are very rough so far, and they're all going to be re-recorded, with a little bit less actual singing and a bit more screaming. I'm mostly asking you to bash the actual music, not the vocals... But any constructive criticism is good. I still have alot to record, but I just wanted a bit of feedback on ways I could improve. I hope there's enough information for you to get the basic idea of what I'm heading towards.

Please, if you can, tell me what I've done compared to what you would do, and tell me how you would do it?

Thanks in advance - James.

In my defense, the only thing i planned before recording was the left guitar, so it's somewhat sloppy, and I programmed the drums. I'd be thankful if you guys could give me your thoughts on the mix, and the song itself, thought the song is nowhere near finished.

Do These Riffs Go Together?

This is actually a new version of this song (http://forum.recordingreview.com/f82/new-riffs-new-song-cool-gross-22265/#post156642), but I'm making a new thread because I realized "bumping" it only pushes it to the 4th page :p

Anyway, general idea is, I like the individual riffs, I'm not certain they belong together. There is a slightly different tone to the second and third riffs compared to the main, and I'm unsure if it is a welcome contrast or not

Comments and thoughts appreciated
