Is it possible to "sign on" to a thread to receive notification when someone has added/responded within the thread?

In other words, the same notification behavior as when you respond to a thread, but having it happen without actually responding.]]></description>

but i still think the server clock is off 14 hours and 15 minutes 
which makes the statement posted today, yesterday, etc misleading for half the messages
