Using multiple sliders at once

I use Cubase SX v3.
I would like to ask how you can select tracks (MIDI tracks, that is) and use their volume sliders on the mixer simultaneously.
I know you can create a group track, but that only seems to be the case for Audio tracks.
I also remember there is a way to do what I am looking for (used to do it years ago) but I forgot how to do it.

Any help will be much appreciated.

just re-setup my tascam us122L with my PC and cubase. Am a newb, cant figure out how to record onto a channel, tho i had it goin b4.

atm i can see the level in the transport window reacting accordingly when i play into my mike so thats all good.

however..
cant seem to get any response in the channel window and thus cannot record anything. I know it will be a real simple thing im not doing, looked all over the net to find it with no success. any ideas?

thanks in advance :beerbangX:

hi all, i was using the M-tron over the past few weeks and have been struck by the war_mth from most of the samples... they sound beautiful, old, crackly and war_m. im only dissappointed there aren't more samples, or at least a few more pianos included. so i got to thinking... is there any vst's that can replicate the war_mth and crackly feel of some recordings. i dont mean to simply add vinyl/gramaphone crackle, i want my actual recordings to sound crackly and war_m and old.

any help would be greatly appreciated.

New cubase user - LE 4 track limitations? LE 4 vs 5

Hi folks, I just joined today and I'm new to Cubase but not to recording. I started on tape machines>adat>fostex vf160>. with the fostex i used sonic foundry (now sony) vegas video for editing/mixing so i do have some working knowledge of non-linear editing.

my new setup is a Zoom R16 interface w/ Cubase LE 4 along with a powerful pc, tube mic preamps, ribbon/condensor mics, etc...and using these together are fantastic and my first session this weekend with a band was a breeze.

question 1: the limitation of LE 4 is that you have 8 instrument tracks and with my interface i can record 8 tracks simulataneously. i know this may be obvious but i dont know so i'm going to ask. can i take the tracks that i've recorded under instrument tracks and move them into audio track slots (limited to 48) to free up the instrument tracks to record more but still have what i recorded in the audio tracks?

question 2: aside some limitation like i described above and some other options i read in a comparison chart, what's the big perk to upgrade to Cubase 5 from LE 4. I mean, it's only $200 to upgrade but it's $200 I'd rather spend on something else. I record musicians and use live drums and don't do any sequencing and very very limited MIDI, in fact, 90% of the time MIDI won't even be used so that's not a dealbreaker for me. from what i've read, LE 4 seems to be a power tool but havent dug into it yet. all i've done is sych eveything up and track some songs. any thoughts?

thanks for any and all help...it's appreciated!

Hi guys

another newbee question..

are there cretain protocols for recording levels ?? for example Always do this and Never do that ??

let me explain...

as a very first recording in cubase i decide to record (in real time) Four seperate Audio tracks ie Bass,Acoustic Guitar,Tom Tom, and Acoustic lead..

i simply recorded each track in real time using a standard Mic in my bedroom without paying any attention to input levels..

what i`ve found is that some of the instruments are Obviously louder than others,,BTW its of no consequence because this was only an experimet to get things going but i`d rather learn the proper way to do it now instead of making massive mistakes that will make it harder in the future and save alot of wasted recording time...What i found when i tried this "First time recording" was that i had NO room left on the input faders to take some instruments DOWN or others UP therefore the mix was wrong from the very beginning

So were do i start when recording Audio levels ?? in other words where do you guys start when you set levels for producing a proper recording..

Thanks in advance

Clueless regarding Nuendo

I've been having problems with audio playback as it seems to cut out for a brief second after playing the track for say about 15secs.

Also, I've been pulling my hair out trying to play VSTi's. Added more RAM and stored my VST plugins on a faster SATA external HD and I'm still having problems recording. Actually I'm having problems recording a simple plain MIDI track without plugins even! All that happens is it seems to clip, and then stops recording but keeps playing. I don't seem to be able to record a clip of more than 10secs. Most of the time it quits recording (all by itself) after 2 secs!:confused::confused:

I'm using a stock soundcard (ASIO Multimedia) in a 1.6Ghz processor with 1.5GB of RAM (Upgrading to 2GB whenever my other mem stick shows up). I understand that the specs seem pretty minimal but is it that I have no problems running Reason 4.0 and only Nuendo seems to have major issues. I opened the VST performance window too and the only thing that happens whenever this skipping or ceasing of recording happens is the red light for CPU light up briefly. My system performance is usually between 3-7% when I check it with Task Manager.

Someone help cos I've been spending money I don't have on what could possibly be a total waste of time.:(

Making the Cubase LE4 reverb sound good

I've been playing with the settings of the standard Cubase LE4 reverb, it's called Roomworks something. I know it's a really basic reverb, but do you have any tips for making it sound good?

What I've been trying is to add one insert with a short delay time (around .6) and a lot of mix (over 50) as my basic delay. Then I've added one or two other inserts of the same Roomworks effect with different settings to try to create a reverb. Everything sounds like I'm in the bathroom.

Any advice? (I'm sure a lot of you are going to say: "Buy a decent reverb plugin")

If I run one mic through my Mic200 preamp and into the 'line in' input on the Alpha, and another through the xlr mic input, how do i record both signals together on one track in Cubase LE4? And/or, is it possible to record seperate tracks for them at once without more hardware?
