Slowing Down On Article Writing

Hello all,

I just wanted to let you guys know that I'm slowing down on my article writing. These things are a significant amount of work for me and right now time is tighter than ever.

Most of all, there are too many OUTSTANDING forum threads that members here at RecordingReview.com have contributed that deserve more attention (both for your benefit and for the benefit of those contribute.)

So for the time being, all newsletters will contain various Featured Threads which I think are badass enough for the world to know about.
Cocky Asshole Mixers And Why You Must Be One

If you aren't a mindless, cocky ass mixer you may be cheating yourself.
It’s been a tricky time for me as a mixer. Like hanging the carrot from the string in front of a horse, I always seem to up my expectations just a little further than my skills. Ambition has no bounds. Napoleon just had to invade Russia. Why do feel a little cold and hungry myself?

One area I’ve really struggled with as my tools have improved is consistently

In this article I hope to arm you with enough info so you can make the decision that best fits your situation.
What Is It?
It's a channel strip on steroids and brain food. I don't waste time rehashing gear websites so go here: <a href="http://www.iZotope.com/products/audio/alloy/"

Slate Digital Cup Notification Signup

Don't Miss A Contest!
I wanted to give everyone the option to receive updates about the Slate Digital Cup for anyone who would like to compete.

No everyone on my newsletter wants to receive info about:
--When the Sweet 16 Is Selected
--When new audio files are available to mix
--When Slate Digital comes up with new prizes

However, for those actively competing it's a huge plus to get an email when there's a contest update.

The only emails I'll send will directly related to the contest. No articles or the usual newsletters will be included.

Pretend Mastering With A One Man Army

It seems to me that every old school recording myth on how you are SUPPOSED to work assumes that your recording gig/hobby is made up of an army of dedicated soldiers. That's simply not how the home recording world works.

In the old days, mixes were done on an analog console that took an hour to mostly recall and even then it was never 100% perfect. There

When The Console Falls Over: So You REALLY Want A Console?

Size: 56.0 KB" style="float: CONFIG" /> I want to make it clear that I've written this little article in pieces starting back in October of 2010 when I got the console and continuing on today. I wrote most of this article when I was in the midst of setting up my Toft ATB32 console, (4) 96-point patchbay setup and added my thoughts over time. The plan is to follow it up with my current thoughts on owning a semi-large console.
Studio Monitors: Do We Expect Too Much?

I solved a huge problem in my studio monitoring by realizing that studio monitors don't work miracles.
Once upon a time I had money burning a hole in my pocket. I had less faith in my monitors than I do for a guy with a suit on in Washington. I HAD to make a big change and I was afraid that maybe my monitors at the time were too cheap. I HAD to know if a $4k monitoring setup was going to be a life-changer. I made the plunge.
