With the bombardment of emails for the upcoming Killer Home Recording mega launch, I've been asked repeatedly which CPU process is fastest or gives the most bang for the buck. The truth is I don't know. Why? Because these things update daily and if I pick the fastest today, I'll have to update it in 10 minutes.
Here's what I go.

These nerds have their standardized tests which I'm sure are close enough for audio usage. I wish you could cross reference the CPU speed with the price to show the best bang for the buck. Maybe someday I can write a script that does that. For now, you've got to do it the old fashioned way and go to Newegg.com (or whatever) and look for yourself to see which one is right for you in terms of price.
BTW, it's worth double checking the prices. Sometimes a $900 processor and a $300 processor are virtually identical in performance!

Would love to own a Mac, even though I have never owned one; but I'm stuck with a AMD right now

I have an HP Intel Core2 Quad with 4GB memory.I thought this would be my last computer for quite awhile. In my 15-20yrs of homerecording I've had at least 6. Now I've found that my new computer wont run some of the better plugs that I got on sale. My new UAD plugs only run on a PCIe card which I knew nothing about. Now after countless screen freezes, blue screens and stupidly slow processing I find myself looking toward a high-end Mac. I have adequate "otb gear".Avaon737(2),Focusrite Red 2 EQ, UA 2-1196,Lexicon LXPII, PCM 81 fx and other dbx and t.c. electronic stuff. I have to keep reminding myself that there will always be something new with a little twist to it.It's that little twist that keeps me investing more money hopeing for that little boost that I hear on day 1 but soon loose afterwards.(don't know why)I wont invest another penny in plug-ins and probably wont get the Mac. There have been good music made on lessor equipment than I have. The main thing is to know your gear and use it to it's fullest. I'm trying.
