Hi RR's fellows.
I just write a (french) article about things to know when you backup datas on CD and wanting to store them for a long time (here is a Google translated version).

Here is the sum up (the last part indeed):
- handle a CD by its edges or its center
- burn at low speed (lowest?)
- store CDs at room temperature, away from light and moisture (in CD box)
- cleaning (if necessary) from center to the outside, with dry cloth
- re-burn discs every ten years

I hope it can be useful

Je viens de finir un article à propos du stockage sur CD.
Vous pourrez y trouver des conseils pour leur garantir une bonne durée de vie.
En espérant que ça puisse être utile

Yeah, it's really easy to lose datas. The main purpose of my article is to give some how and why to be careful with those plastics discs. Specially if you give them precious datas you want to get years after (photos for instance )

If you really want to save your precious datas with a strong security, always save them at least twice, and at different places.
Plus, some (and I too) recommend to store your backup devices (and CDs too) not in your house!
If you want to be serious with your datas and fire come up when you're outpside, you can loose your computer and your backup at once

When I talked about backup, I had in mind to backup a *huge* amount of datas.
Mail and soundcloud can't handle 500 Mb in one file (like a Zip file with lot of tracks).
Cloud services are a pain when you had many Gb to upload...
