An useful way for representing stereo sound is the standard Left/Right that we're all familiar with. Mid/Side is another way, and it can be useful in all sorts of ways. The easiest way to explain it is to describe how to convert a left right signal into mid/side and back.
So, when playing a sound, and you want it to sound like it's coming from the middle of two speakers, you play the exact same signal in both speakers. To get the "mid"
