I’ve been hanging round here for a couple of years now and thought it was time to step back and have a think about it all.... This is my Recording Review

    A bit of background:
As some of you know, I was signed up to EMI (UK) back in the early 80’s. Fascinating adventure, long story but I walked away. If I can, I'll attach a very scratchy copy of a song I did at Abbey Rd - just to sort of lay my ghosts to rest.... I was still singing about dark seas and angst back then, ...

How are your ergonomics? Do you have keyboard aches and pains?? I know you audio guys are a tough lot – unlikely to admit to such things tehe...
I used to do workstation assessments as part of my job and now that I find myself hunched over my keyboard peering fixedly at the screen while I edit endless musically-related data, I’ve been reminding myself of some tips and tricks and thought I’d share some in case anyone else was interested.

  4. I’m not training my voice – I’m releasing it! The voice lessons continue...

Part 2 of: The voice is NOT an instrument!

    First there is the breath...
And then there is the next breath...

Oh... we have been breathing a lot!!!

I had hoped to be diving into the creation of ‘brilliance’.. polishing my notes until they shone, but alas.. this voice thing seems to be tiered... they use the analogy of a house/castle. When you get all the facets together, you are singing with the whole magnificent structure,

  5. The voice is NOT an instrument!

    by , 02-21-2012 at 03:47 PM
I’m having voice lessons again. Not singing lessons – I’ve done my share of them and they never really suited me. I’m finally starting to realise why. I’ve signed up for 10 two hour lessons in a group session and thought I’d write down my thoughts, to try to remember stuff and make better use of it all… I thought it was pretty interesting so am posting it out just in case anyone else finds it interesting too..

The tutor is Sylvia Rands, a ‘voice work’ coach. Her work is a ...
