I kind of feel like this.... Most of these programs are all so similar it's stupid... also, what computer platform they run on is mostly irrelevant... some MAY supposedly sound a bit better BUT it's all about what program suits you and your work flow and how you think. I think PT is the easiest one out there for editing and mixing multitrack.. however I am rarely using it because it seriously lacks the tools I need for composition. I used Logic for a while but never could get it so what good did all that environment stuff do me? NONE. It really doesn't matter as long as you "get" the tools you are working with, can work intuitively, don't need to constantly cuss at the computer and ENJOY the process... don't forget the ability to use it to compete commercially if that's what you do....

Features really don't mean shit unless you need them or know how to take advantage of them. Hardware is a different thing. They all seem to be pretty decent compared to 10 years ago but there is still a wide gap in terms of how good they are... even some of the low end hardware of today sounds great compared to the hi end hardware of 10 years ago... and don't forget, that didn't keep them from making albums... It's really hard to go wrong these days... the one caveat being with all these different packages, it's becoming harder for software developers to maintaing compatibility with their products with all these different apps...
