 Problems with Lambda/Cubase LE4

I've been a professional musician for 40 years. I play piano mostly. I did some writing/arranging with sequencers back in the day,but I am a computer recording newbie. I have just purchased a Lexicon Lambda with Cubase LE4 software. I have installed the stuff,and followed the quick-start instructions provided in the Lambda manual VERY carefully . The Lambda is working (I can hear the stuff I want to record thru my headphones) but NOTHING registers on Cubase. I have uninstalled and reinstalled several times. There will soon be torn hair on my floor.What might I be doing wrong?
