I'm not sure what "the effect" you are speaking of. Is there a specific part of the song you're referring to, or are you talking about the different guitar sounds throughout the song?
The intro of the song uses a backwards, reversed effect.
There are many layered guitar tracks (if this is what you mean). The huge power-chord guitars have been double-tracked. That is, recorded on two different tracks, each panned to the hard left and right channels.
