I think if you want to record your guitar, then you want to record audio, not midi.
Midi is basically used to control synths. It is information used to tell the synth what notes to play and how to play them. Just a basic idea of it. There is more, but don't worry about that right now.
Unless your guitar is a midi-control device ( it would have a special pick-up if so, I believe ) then you just want to record an audio track.
