I tried changing the output back to the Audigy 2, but it's not on the list of options anymore. Any idea how to get my Audigy 2 back up on that list? I searched the forum and someone mentioned setting the Audigy 2 as my default soundcard in windows. I tried finding this function in device manager, but to no avail. can someone help??

Thanks!
From what I recall in Cubase SX3, the "Creative ASIO" tab was in the same place, only I think the ASIO selection window was called "VST Audiobay" or something like this.

Regarding your soundcard problem, first I'd recommend disabling your onboard soundcard (The SoundMax) in your BIOS.

Next, check in windows control panel -> device manager -> sound, video, game controllers and see if the driver for the Audigy 2 is installed correctly (that there's no yellow exclamation mark icon over your Audigy 2). Perhaps the update messed something up here. Note, that if this was the case, you could probably expect all your sound not to work (i.e. outside of cubase also)

If that still doesn't work, it's time to think about reinstalling things. You can fully uninstall the Audigy 2 and reinstall it only using the updated drivers. You can uninstall/reinstall Cubase SX3, you can even wipe windows and reinstall from there.

I can't think of any reason why updated drivers would not be compatible with cubase, so I'm really leaning towards the driver update failed (did you reboot?) or that windows is confused by the availability of both onboard sound and the audigy 2.

Is your SX3 up to date?
