What happens? Do you get an error message?
This is almost always a sign that the routing of the inputs is not set correctly. If a soundcard/audio interface plays it should record too. Press F4 and make sure you have the correct inputs selected.
Also it COULD be an issue with the output of your mixer (unless you have a way to test that).

Hi Brandon,
Thank you for pointing me into right direction. Problem was with my Mixer. My output on Mixer was connected to Monitor ports instead of Alt 3-4. Other issue was that i had to press the mute button on my mic input so that it would not send the out to main but to Alt 3-4. Once I switched that, it fixed my audio problem. I was able to record the Midi as well, but once I closed the cubase and reopened it, and loaded th eproject that I saved, I was unable to hear the Midi. I have to troubleshoot that now.
My other major problem is that now I cannot record anything that is playing on my computer, so if I want to record a song that is playing on my computer from internet, I cannot record it. This is true for both Cubase and Audacity. I can do that on my laptop without a problem. Also, my partner connects via Skype. If I play my recording on my computer, he cannot hear that. He can hear my voice via the mic, but not the music that i play.
Any idea on that?
I will appreciate any pointers from you.
Thanks,
-jamal
