Problems with Cubase adn EMU
Hello folks,
My name is Jamal and I am a novice who is trying to set his home-based recording studio and having hell of a time doing that. Things work for a moment and then don;t work at all. First off, this is what I have:
Computer: Dual Core Win2k3 machine with 3g of RAM.
Sound Card: Sounblaster E-MU 0404 Digital Audio System
Reording Software: Cubase LE
Keyboard: Yamaha PSR-540
External Mixer: Xenyx 1204FX
Amplifier: Samson
This is how I have set these up (and maybe there is a problem here):
My Sound Card has two pairs of analog input and output connectors (left and right). My mixer's output (not the master but the monitor output) is connected to the input of the sound card. Output from the soundcard is coming back to mixer as an analog 1/4'' input.
Output from mixer is going into amplifier and two passive speakers are connected to amplifier.
Soundcard has midi connections and my keyboard is connected to it.
E-MU 0404 came with DSP patchmix software.
I have four strips in Patchmix; Wave L/R; ASIO OUT 31/32; PCI Card In L; PCI In R and PCI Card S/PDIF L/F.
My esternal mixer is working fine and I can hear the audio through my speakers and if I connect my keyboard directly to it, that works great as well.
Problem is with my audio that goes into my computer. I can not record audio in Cubse or in Audacity (I have that one as well and it was working fine before I started using Cubase).
One big thing that i notice is that when I go into Cubase Device set and then VST Multitrack, I see E-MU ASIO driver listed there. However, choosing that driver does not work. Only ASIO Multimedia driver works. I can hear the audio when I select that but still cannot record anything.
I know you guys might need more information before anyone can help me, but any pointers will be highly appreciated, as I getting very frustrated with it now.
Thanks,
-jamal
